After twenty years of loyal service, 1 August 2025 was supposed to be a day of quiet pride for Mr. Mano. Instead, it became one of his most difficult moments. That morning, he received a termination letter. His role had been made redundant, and his last day would be 15 August, just two weeks away.

The news hit hard. Two decades of dedication seemed to end in a short letter. On that very day, with courage and composure, Mr. Mano asked the company for a severance package that reflected his long years of service, pointing to similar cases in the past. But his request was turned down.

Most would have given up, but Mr. Mano chose to stand up for what was fair. On 3 August, he reached out to NTUC for help. The very next day, a PME consultant stepped in, listening, gathering facts. The consultant arranged for a mediation session between the company and the member.

The mediation was not easy, but Mr. Mano spoke with quiet determination, and the PME consultant made sure his voice was heard.

Just days later, on 15 August, the breakthrough came. The company agreed to grant him an ex-gratia payment of four months equivalent to $75k. For Mr. Mano, this was not just about the money, it was about recognition, fairness, and leaving with dignity after two decades of service.

What began as a painful chapter turned into a story of resilience and courage. By reaching out for support and standing firm, Mr. Mano showed that even in moments of loss, dignity and justice can still be won. Above all, he was deeply grateful to NTUC for the mediation session and helping him find both fairness and closure in a difficult time.

As he shared, “NTUC gave me the strength to stand up for myself and the confidence to walk away with dignity. Kudos to NTUC!”
